An infotainment station for the Indian community, OLI 968 is the only Indian radio station in Singapore that adopts a full service programming format featuring news, information, lifestyle features, music and entertainment.

Launched in 1936 as part of the British Malaya Broadcasting Corporation, OLI 968 started off its airtime as a four-hour service. On August 1965, the station was renamed Indian Services of Radio Television Singapore (RTS) and in 1980 RTS became a statutory board called Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC). On 14 April 1997 the station was renamed as OLI 968.

On 21 June 2001, OLI 968 received International Honours as it was awarded the prestigious World Medal for Community Service in the annual New York Festivals. This was in recognition for its record-breaking fund-raising effort for the earthquake victims of Gujarat where S$2.6 million was raised in 3 weeks. A historic occasion occurred on 10 August 2001 as the station officially launched its 24 hour, fully manned transmission.

OLI had a rebranding event on 7th June 2014 where it launched its current logo for a vibrant and forward-looking makeover after the old one served the station for 17 years since 1997. OLI’s new programming included more streamlined programming for Tamil and non-Tamil listeners where the respective time-belts were revamped to make the station more engaging and relevant with the Indian Community in Singapore.

The station’s rebranding plans took effect on 9th June 2014, and came less than a year after OLI merged with its television counterpart Vasantham to form the Indian Broadcast Division. The consolidation of the Indian business units in MediaCorp has seen greater synergy and has yielded positive results.
